Structural Balance
Zero internal threaded bolts or synthetic adhesives. Stability relies strictly on dry mortise joints, matched gravitational mass, and friction across raw contact planes.
Surface Integrity
Cantilever No. 4 (Heart-Pine and Rail Iron)
Finished surfaces remain untreated save for raw mineral oil on select iron joints. Exposure to ambient humidity continues to evolve the ferrous patina over decades.
Seven-foot salvaged industrial beam suspended by a single sixty-pound forged counterweight. The surface preserves century-old mill saw kerfs and deep atmospheric oxidation without synthetic lacquers or mechanical welds.

Recent Studio Elevations
Every piece documented as a straight elevation against neutral studio plaster. Dimensions, dry mass, and provenance accompany each documentation entry.

Salvage and Restraint
Timber is sourced from demolished 19th-century grain elevators and upstate textile mills along the Hudson waterway. The dense heartwood retains historical tool markings, load stresses, and mineral deposits absorbed over more than a century of industrial use.
Ferrous stock comes from decommissioned freight lines and foundry scrap fields. Rather than grinding the metal flat, each structural piece retains its weathered rust blooms, cold-stamped serial numbers, and shear-cut fracture edges.
Complete technical dimension sheets, weight calculations, and institution loan conditions are available upon request for collectors and curators.
